RBI Mentoring – A Story of Hope

Why Mentoring?

Three out of four kids in the Oak Springs community are fatherless.

RBI Mentoring is a movement to end the fatherless crisis in East Austin, and we are now recruiting mentors!

RBI Mentoring matches East Austin 4th graders with a caring mentor to invest in their lives through high school graduation and develop them into the future leaders of their communities.

Researchers found that after 18 months of spending time with their mentors, mentees (compared to children without mentors) were:

  • 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs 46% 46%
  • 27% less likely to begin using alcohol 27% 27%
  • 52% less likely to skip school 52% 52%
  • 37% less likely to skip a class 37% 37%
  • 33% less likely to hit someone 33% 33%

Love RBI Austin. The coaches and staff are incredible people. We have made lifelong friends.

I’ve been with RBI for a few years now — as a player, as a coach, and as a intern — and there is nothing like being a part of this family!

We genuinely LOVE RBI and what the league/organization stands for. I was so impressed with how the coaches, who don’t have kids of their own, serve and love the kids.

Over the past 4 years we’ve had the privilege of having our kids on teams coached by some amazing people. The capacity they have for not only being dedicated but committing to loving the kids is inspiring.
